Meet Kevin J. Chatary, CCM

Kevin Chatary is HRV’s Technical Operations Manager with responsibilities for day-to-day oversight of HRV’s project managers and technical operations. He joined the HRV Construction Services Division project management team in August 2019. With more than a decade of construction management and inspection (CM/CI) experience with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and several years of CM/CI experience in the private sector, he brings a strong background in project engineering, quantity/cost reviews, contractor coordination/reviews, client communications, and numerous other project management skills to HRV. Kevin maintains several PM responsibilities with HRV including technical field staff coordination and management, and technical CM/CI advisory support.

Kevin’s project history includes the CM oversight for IndiGO Multimodal Transportation Expansion and Improvements Project (Indiana County, PA); Project Superintendent for the construction of Phase 2 of the Venango County Multimodal Transportation Project (District 1-0, PA); Transportation Construction Manager for the Brickyard Bridge ($1.2M) and the McHenry Bridge ($1M) Projects (Beaver County, PA); and Transportation Construction Manager for over 50 construction projects involving bridges and highways throughout Pennsylvania.

He attended California University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh (Psychological Studies) and the Community College of Allegheny County (A.S in Civil Engineering Technologies). Kevin maintains a number of professional industry certifications including Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI)–Certified Construction Manager (CCM), ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician, NACE Coating Inspector Level 1, and PCI Level II among others.

Kevin is an avid runner, logging a total of 11,154 miles over 1,889 straight days of running as of February 20, 2023, including participating in several marathons. He also enjoys rock climbing, mountain biking, and has achieved a 2nd Degree Black-Belt in Taekwondo. Kevin is a firm believer in having fun in a workplace environment—he’s HRV’s “ringleader” in developing in-office activities that include a “Song of the Week” contest, annual paper airplane contests, and a lot of good natured “photoshopping.”

"I am on the CMAA board because I feel that the CM field needs to be grown in our region. The need for certified construction managers is great, and having the ability to be involved with CMAA and especially the Three Rivers Chapter allows me to aid in the recognition of the need for certified construction managers, as well as build my own network."
